Stelios Giannakopoulos

Stelios Giannakopoulos (Greek Στυλιανός " Στέλιος " Γιαννακόπουλος, born July 12, 1974 in Athens ) is a Greek football player.

Club career

Career start

Giannakopoulos career began in Greece in 1992 at the club Ethnikos Astera, where he already in his first season was one of the key players and scored six goals. At the end of the season he moved to Panileiakos Pyrgou, where he remained three years. During this period he met 26 times in 84 games, and aroused the desire of the big clubs.

The years at Olympiakos

In the summer of 1996, Olympiacos secured his services. Over the next seven seasons Giannakopoulos played there as a regular player. In 189 appearances in dress from Olympiakos, he scored 63 goals. He won in each season, the Greek Championship and reached the quarter- finals of the Champions League in the 1998-99 season.

The years at Bolton

After ten years of a successful career in Greece in 2003, he moved to Bolton Wanderers. His first game in the Premier League he played against Manchester United. Stelios Giannakopoulos began his career in the Greek National Team on March 12, 1997 game against Cyprus.
