Stem (ship)

The Steven are part of the " backbone " of the hull. Set the front and rear, if necessary, drawn upward extension of the keel of a ship or boat dar. For timber ships, four - or three -edged wooden beams, used steel ships, either round shaped flat iron or specially formed sheet steel members.

The pre-or stem forms the front end of the hull. He is, depending on the ship type, shaped convex or concave, but can be mounted diagonally or vertically on the bow of the ship without any curvature.

The aft or stern is the rear boundary of the hull. He, too, may be shaped differently depending on the ship type or tail shape. He closes the ship from aft and provides strength. Many ship or boat types at the stern the rudder blade is attached.

Constructive reinforcements in the connecting region between Kiel and Steven are called " Steve knee " means.
