Geography
Geographical Location
Mortising is located in a floodplain and wetland is otherwise strongly defined agrarian. In the north- east are the nature reserves Ekelmoor and snails stairs, between which flows the Wümme coming from the district of Harburg to the southwest. With an area of 2465 hectares, it is the second largest municipality of the velvet municipality Fintel.

Climate

Coat of arms
The coat of arms of the municipality Mortising consists of a golden shield, which is divided by a blue wave band diagonally from top left to bottom right. The upper half shows five green acorns, the lower a black grouse. The five acorns symbolize the districts Mortising, Neddervieh, Dreihausen, Stemmer box and Red Moor.
