The Stemonuraceae are a family within the angiosperms ( Magnoliopsida ).

Dissemination

The taxa have their home in the tropics. The center of diversity is the Pacific Region of Southeast Asia to Queensland (Australia). In each case, some species are found in the Neotropics, the Indian subcontinent and Africa, including Madagascar.

Description

The species of the family are woody plants: trees and shrubs. The alternate, simple leaves are often stalked and leathery. Stipules absent.

They are usually dioecious getrenntgeschlechtig ( dioecious ). Are formed zymöse inflorescences. The small, non- fragrant flowers with radial symmetry are four to fünfzählig (rarely to siebenzählig ). The sepals are more or less freely. The petals are fused. There is only one stamen circle exists, with strong, often conspicuously hairy stamens ( filaments). The carpels are fused into a superior ovaries, with a wide, seated scar. Are formed drupes.
