Stena Line

Stena Line is a Swedish shipping company and one of the largest ferry in the world. The Stena Line AB is a subsidiary of Stena AB Group's main and has its headquarters in Gothenburg. It is divided into the business segments Scandinavia, Irish Sea and North Sea. The shipping company has 38 ferries, in 2011 3.1 million cars and 1.6 million freight units were with these 14.7 million passengers transported. Stena Line sails 22 routes between the Netherlands and the UK, on the Irish Sea and on the Baltic Sea between Denmark, Norway, Sweden, Poland and Germany.

History

A native of the island Donsö in Southern Gothenburg Archipelago Sten Allan Olsson (1916-2013) founded in 1939, the Sten A Olsson metal Produkter, from the current Stena AB developed. In 1946 he acquired the first ferry and got into the shipping business, the actual Stena Line was founded in 1962 with the acquisitions of Skagenlinjen from Gothenburg to Skagen. Due to the high demand on the route Karlskrona - Gdynia sat Stena Line ferry in 2013 a third one. She was as Stena Alegra in operation.
