Stenhammar Castle

The Royal Castle Stenhammar situated in the swedish community Flender. The castle belonging to the property includes 2000 acres, where 1200 hectares are covered by forest.

The whole estate was known since the late 14th century under the name Slädhammar. The name change was made when in 1658 the present two-storey main building was built with its turrets. In 1809 the castle was bought by wholesalers Anders Petterson, who inherited it in 1870 to his grandson, Robert Chamberlain of Kræmer. They both sat down heavily committed to improving the estate.

Robert of Kræmer in his will that the estate passes to the Swedish state and that the castle should be leased to a male descendants of the House of Bernadotte. This lease should be 1000 SEK per year.
