Stephen Collins

Stephen Weaver Collins ( born October 1, 1947 in Des Moines, Iowa) is an American actor, director and author. He is best known as Pastor Eric Camden on the television series A heavenly family.

Childhood and youth

Stephen Collins was born in Des Moines, Iowa, the son of Cyrus and Madeline Collins and spent the first six months of his life in Peru. After his parents in Hastings -on-Hudson, New York settled where he grew up. Colin studied at the prestigious liberal arts college Amherst. There he joined the theater group and so gained his first experience as an actor. He made his debut in a production of TS Eliot's play Murder in the Cathedral. 1969 Collins played the New York Shakespeare Festival, the role of Valentine in Twelfth Night. Shortly after, he signed a contract in New York as an actor.

Career

After Collins has experience as a theater actor, he stood by Burt Reynolds in the series Dan August for the first time on camera. His feature film debut was in 1976 in a small role in The Untouchables opposite Dustin Hoffman and Robert Redford. This was followed by guest appearances in series (including The Waltons ) and movie roles (including in Star Trek - The Motion Picture as Captain / Cmdr Willard "Will" Decker. ). 1981/82 played Collins in Tales of The Gold Monkey as Jake Cutter first permanent series role. It went on to star in the series Tattingers (1987-1988), Working it Out (1990-1991) and Sisters ( Sisters, 1995-1996). In addition, Collins has also performed in numerous theatrical and television films (including in Jumpin 'Jack Flash and The First Wives Club ) and took several guest roles in series.

1996-2007 played Collins in the television series A heavenly family, the role of Reverend Eric Camden. Collins himself has directed three episodes of the series. His directorial debut was in 1992 with the musical The Old Boy. Collins also wrote two novels. His first novel, Eye Contact (1994 ) reached bestseller status, a success to which the succession novel Double Exposure (1998) did not match.

From 2010 to 2011 Collins played the role of Dr. Dayton King in the U.S. television series My Superhero Family.

Private

Collins is married to Faye Grant since 1985 (separation in 2012 ) and has a daughter. Collins is Episcopalian.
