Stéphen Pichon

Stéphen Jean Marie Pichon ( born August 10, 1857 in Arnay -le- Duc, Cote- d'Or, † September 18, 1933 in Vers- en- Montagne, Jura) was a French politician.

As a journalist, he worked for the daily newspaper La Justice of the later Prime Minister Georges Clemenceau, before he was in 1885 elected as a deputy in the Chamber of Deputies. He later served as a diplomat in Port -au -Prince, Santo Domingo, Rio de Janeiro, Beijing and Tunis. In 1900 he took part in Beijing on negotiations to end the Boxer Rebellion.

1906 appointed him Clemenceau in his Cabinet as Secretary of State. This office he retained even after the fall of Clemenceau in 1909 to 1911. As the always supported him Clemenceau 1917-1920 once again became prime minister, called this Pichon again as foreign minister. He was instrumental in the Paris Peace Conference to end the First World War, from which emerged the Paris suburb of contracts.

After his retirement from active politics, he was editor of the Petit Journal.
