Stephen Root

Stephen Root ( born November 17, 1951 in Sarasota, Florida ) is an American actor.

Life and career

After he had completed the training at the University of Florida, Stephen Root joined for three years with the National Shakespeare Company. After this time, he went to New York City, where he appeared first in Off-Broadway theaters. In 1987, Root then on Broadway in Sandra Deers Comedy So Long on Lonely Street. The play was not a success and closed after 53 performances.

His first role in a movie played in 1988 in George A. Romero Root Monkey Shines. This was followed by small roles in Black Rain, Kindergarten Cop and a few other films until 1995, he took over the role of Jimmy James on the television series NewsRadio. By 1999, played root in 53 episodes of the series the eccentric owner of a radio station. For the animated series King of the Hill, he said, from 1997 to 2010 in 257 episodes different roles. He spoke with, inter alia, in Finding Nemo.
