Stephen Smith (Australian politician)

Stephen Smith (born 12 December 1955 Narrogin, Western Australia ) is an Australian politician and was Minister for Foreign Affairs of Australia. Smith is a member of the party Australian Labor Party. Since March 1993 Smith 's deputy in the Australian Parliament, representing the constituency Division of Perth, Western Australia.

Biography

Smith was born in Narrogin, Western Australia. After his education, Smith studied at the University of Western Australia and at the University of London, where he achieved his Masters in Law. Thereafter, Smith worked as a lawyer and went out in the policy. From 1983 to 1987, Smith was an employee of the Western Australian Attorney - General and from 1987 to 1990, Smith served as State Secretary of the Western Australian Labor Party. From 1990 to 1993 Smith worked for Paul Keating.

Since 1996, Smith was a member of the Shadow Cabinet in the event of an election victory of the Australian Labor Party.
