Stephen Wiesner

Stephen J. Wiesner ( b. 1942 ) is an American physicist. He is known for his contributions to quantum information theory.

Wiesner is the son of Jerome Wiesner and studied at Brandeis University and Columbia University. He lives in Israel.

Wiesner led, among other things, a quantum information protocol of quantum money and Conjugate Coding ( 1970 ), from which the concept of quantum key exchange developed ( BB84 protocol). The idea circulated at first only in the form of preprints and published by him in 1983. The building, designed by him and Charles Bennett based on the concept of quantum entanglement poet coding ( Super Dense Coding or Dense ) was demonstrated experimentally by Anton Zeilinger and his group in 1996.
