Stephen Wiltshire

Stephen Wiltshire, MBE ( born April 24, 1974 in London) is an autistic artist with an island talent. He is mainly interested in earthquakes, automobiles and architecture.

Life

When Stephen Wiltshire, also called " living camera ", was diagnosed at the age of three autism. In the same year his father died in a motorcycle accident. At the age of four years, Stephen was referred to the Queensmill School in London, where his interest was aroused for drawing. His drawings served him to communicate. At the age of eight he started with the drawing of cars and cities to earthquakes.

His teacher Chris Marris furthered his talent; with his help, Wiltshire learned at the age of nine years, also speaking. At the age of ten years, Wiltshire drew a series of pictures called London Alphabet, a series of London landmarks, one drawing per letter.

Meanwhile, Wiltshire is a famous artist. His island talent enables him to look at an object and then draw a very accurate and detailed image. In this way he drew the entire city Pictures of London, Rome, Hong Kong and Frankfurt after only one helicopter ride. He is also capable of imaginary pictures of Saint Paul 's Cathedral, surrounded by flames to paint.

Wiltshire's work since then has been part of several television documentaries, the neurologist Oliver Sacks devoted a chapter to it in his book An Anthropologist on Mars (An Anthropologist On Mars ).

In 2007, Stephen Wiltshire was named in recognition of his achievements by Queen Elizabeth II for members of the Order of the British Empire ( MBE).
