Stephen Winsten

Stephen Weinstein (* 1893, † 1991) was an English writer. His name was originally Samuel Weinstein; after his marriage to Clare Birnberg, the couple took the last name Winsten and became Quakers.

In World War Weinstein refused to perform military service for reasons of conscience and was incarcerated in prison for it in Bedford and in prison in Reading.

As a writer, he is best known for his work on Henry Salt and his work on George Bernard Shaw, who was his neighbor in Ayot St Lawrence in Hertfordshire.
