Stephens County (Oklahoma)

Stephens County is a county located in the state of Oklahoma in the United States. The administrative headquarters ( County Seat) is Duncan.

Geography

The County is located in southern Oklahoma, just to the west, is about 35 km from Texas away and has an area of ​​2308 square kilometers, of which 44 square kilometers are water surface. It is bordered clockwise to the following counties: Grady County, Garvin County, Carter County, Jefferson County, Cotton County and Comanche County.

History

Stephens County was formed on July 16, 1907 from parts of Comanche County and Chickasaw country. It was named after John H. Stephens, a lawyer and member of the Texas Congress.
