Stephenville, Newfoundland and Labrador

Stephenville is a city on the St. Georges Bay on Newfoundland's west coast.

The city is with schools, hospital, shopping and financial institutions supply center for the south-western region of the island with a catchment area of approximately 45,000 people. Port Harmon, the port of the city, was used until the end of the paper industry in 2005 for the export of their products. The central administration of the university system of the region is located in Stephenville.

The civilian airport of Stephenville went out of the operated 1941-1966 military airfield out ( Ernest Harmon Air Force Base ), who was responsible for the rapid growth of the city in the 1940s. During operation of the Space Shuttle Airport Stephenville was a possible emergency landing at a take-off.
