The Office Sternberg Lake District is located in the northeast of the county Ludwigslust - Parchim in Mecklenburg -Vorpommern ( Germany ) in the homonymous lake scenery. In this office to 13 municipalities have joined together to do their administrative business. The administrative headquarters is located in Sternberg, a branch office is in Brüel.
On March 28, 2001, the Office Sternberg Lake District with the eight municipalities Borkow, Dabel, United Görnow, Hohen Pritz, Kobrow, Mustin, City Sternberg and Witzin was formed. Great Görnow was incorporated into Sternberg on 1 January 2003. On 1 July 2004, the six municipalities Blankenberg, City Brüel, Kuhlen - Wendorf, Langen Jarchow, Wide Village and the dissolved Zahrensdorf Office Brüel were added.
The office area extends in a hilly moraine landscape east of Lake Schwerin. The office area is crossed by the Warnow and the Mildenitz. In the north, the office area is bordered by the districts of North West Mecklenburg and Rostock. The Great Sternberger See and the United Labenzer Lake are the largest of the numerous lakes in office. The hub height is Hohen Pritz is above 85 m. HN is the highest elevation. The office area is located entirely within the natural park Sternberger Lakeland.
Apart from agriculture, in particular, tourism is playing at the different lakes an increasing role.
Through the Office Sternberg Lake District, the Federal Roads Lead 104 ( Schwerin - Güstrow ) and 192 ( Neubrandenburg -Wismar ). The motorway A14 touches the office area in the northwest, the only remaining station in Blankenberg is on the railway line Schwerin Rostock.
