Stettiner SC

The Szczecin Sport-Club was a German sports club. He was based in the capital of the Province of Pomerania and Stettin used the Richard Lindemann sports ground on the north- western outskirts of Szczecin. His club colors were red and white.

History

The club was founded in 1908 under the name of Athletics Sports Club Szczecin. In 1911 he was called to Stettin in the sport club. He was particularly known for the sports of football and athletics. The football team of the Szczecin SC was twice Pomeranian football champions, and the athlete Gerhard Volkmann 1920 German Champion in 3000 m steeplechase, Günther King won the 1940 German Championship in the long jump.

The football players took part in the championships of the Baltic lawn and Winter Sports Association, later Baltic sports association. In 1921 she won first championship, but the team was stripped of the title later in 1900 in favor of VfB Königsberg again. Due to the late withdrawal of Szczecin SC could still participate in the finals of the German Championship in 1921. After the expulsion of the German population from Stettin, the club went under in 1945.

Sports facility

The Szczecin SC wore his games on the Richard Lindemann sports field from the Eckersberger forest. The term of its capacity was 32,000 spectators. The sports complex is now called Stadium Arkonii Szczecin and is used by the sports club Arkonia Szczecin. The grandstand has seating for about 9,000 spectators. Since 2007, a floodlight system is installed.

On September 15, 1935 match between Germany and Estonia took place at the Richard - Lindemann - sports court, which Germany won 5-0.
