Steve Bancroft

Steve Bancroft ( born October 6, 1970 in Toronto, Ontario ) is a retired Canadian professional ice hockey player. During his career he played for the Chicago Blackhawks and San Jose Sharks of the National Hockey League as well as the Augsburger Panther in the Deutsche Eishockey Liga.

Career

Bancroft played with three years from 1987 to 1990 in the Ontario Hockey League with the Belleville Bulls. He eventually moved to season 1990/91 turned professional after he was selected in the NHL Entry Draft in 1989 in the first round at 21 position of the Toronto Maple Leafs.

The defender played in the American Hockey League for the farm team of the Toronto Maple Leafs, Boston Bruins and Chicago Blackhawks, where he played in the 1992/93 season and his first time being single NHL game. This was followed by change in different circumstances in the franchises of the Winnipeg Jets, Florida Panthers, Pittsburgh Penguins, Carolina Hurricanes and San Jose Sharks. For the Sharks, he came in the 2001/ 02 season to a further five NHL inserts, but otherwise he played like with all other stations exclusively in the Minor Leagues. After his time with the Sharks, he moved to the St. Louis Blues and Ottawa Senators, where he once again had to settle for a regular place in the farm team in both.

For the season 2004 /05 Bancroft signed a contract in Europe and played for a year for the Augsburger Panther in the DEL. But to season 2005/ 06 he returned to North America and ran on in his final season as a professional for the Omaha Ak -Sar - Ben Knights.

In his career, the first-round draft pick of the Toronto Maple Leafs came to just six NHL games in which he prepared a goal. In the 2000/01 season when he scored 73 points in 80 AHL games, he was appointed in the jersey of Kentucky Thoroughblades, a farm team of the San Jose Sharks, the First All -Star team in the league.
