Steve Coogan

Stephen John "Steve" Coogan ( born October 14, 1965 in Manchester, England ) is a British actor, comedian and screenwriter.

Life

Coogan comes from an Irish Catholic family. He began his career as a stand -up comedian and also worked as a voice actor for the famous puppet series Spitting Image.

His breakthrough came when he joined the BBC and broadcasts for the radio transmitter's program developed there with the writers and producers Chris Morris and Armando Iannucci series The Day Today. In The Day Today there was also the first appearance of Coogan's most famous character, the incompetent and mostly overmatched presenter Alan Partridge. Partridge quickly became so popular that Coogan has embodied it now in two television series ( Knowing Me, Knowing You with Alan Partridge and I'm Alan Partridge ), multiple specials, as well as numerous appearances on other television series, comedy shows and festivals.

Some running gags from the broadcasts of the fictional game show host have become commonplace in the English popular culture, especially Partridge's habit of his guests with excerpts from ABBA songs and the formula " Knowing me, Alan Partridge, knowing you, [name of guest ], a -ha " to be welcomed. In addition to the Showmaster Coogan has but a few other characters in his repertoire, for example, the title character of the BBC series Dr. Terrible's House Of Horrible, a parody of old horror movies, and several inhabitants of the fictional town Ottle in the series Coogan 's Run.
