Steve Fisher (writer)

Steve Fisher ( * August 29, 1912 born in Marine City, Michigan as Stephen Gould Fisher, † March 27, 1980 in Canoga Park, California ) was an American screenwriter who was nominated once for an Academy Award for best original story.

Life

Fisher began his career as a screenwriter in the film industry in Hollywood in 1938 with the film drama The Nurse from Brooklyn by S. Sylvan Simon with Sally Eilers, Paul Kelly and Larry J. Blake. He wrote the scripts and templates to 95 films and television series. His story short leave in 1939 was filmed as a Navy Secrets. His novel I Wake Up Screaming was filmed twice: first in 1941 as I Wake Up Screaming, on the other hand in 1953 as Vicki.

At the Academy Awards in 1944 Fisher was nominated for the Academy Award for best original story, and indeed for the staged on his novels and Delmer Daves war film Destination Tokyo (Destination Tokyo, 1943) with Cary Grant, John Ridgely and Alan Hale Sr. in the lead roles.
