Steve Hanley (musician)

Steve Hanley (born 29 May 1959 Dublin, Ireland ) is a musician from Manchester, England. He is best known as a longtime bass player for the British band The Fall.

Life

At the beginning of his musical career in 1976 Steve Hanley played bass in a punk band called The Sirens. After her only concert they broke up because the singer left the band. Steve Hanley moved to Staff 9, which, inter alia, as support for Joy Division and The Fall played. In The Fall Steve Hanley was at this time as a roadie and took over in April 1979 the bass. He remained in the band until 1998, and coined their sound significantly. Through his resistance and his calm, even-tempered nature he made until his departure the backbone of the band. After The Fall and a break, he decided to pursue a music only as a side job and took a job at a school in Didsbury / Manchester in the management of.
