Steve McConnell

Steven "Steve" C. McConnell (born 1962 ) is an American author of software engineering books.

1998 McConnel was designated as one of the three most influential people in the software industry, along with Bill Gates and Linus Torvalds.

Career

McConnell earned his bachelor's degree at Whitman College in Walla Walla, Washington ( Magna cum laude, Phi Beta Kappa ) and his master's degree in software engineering from Seattle University. He then worked as a software developer in the desktop segment before was working as an author and consultant. Currently (March 2006) is McConnel CEO and Chief Software Engineer of Construx Company Inc.

From 1998 to 2002, McConnell served as Editor in Chief of IEEE Software. He was also Chairman of the IEEE Computer Society Professional Practices Committee.
