Steve Moore

Steve Moore ( born September 22, 1978 in Windsor, Ontario ) is a retired Canadian professional ice hockey player. During his career he played for the Colorado Avalanche in the National Hockey League. His brother Dominic is also hockey players.

Career

Steve Moore began his career in the Canadian Junior Football League unterklassigen MTJHL at the Thornhill Islanders before he attended Harvard University from the summer of 1997. He played for the ice hockey team of the University and was selected after a good first year of the Colorado Avalanche in the NHL Entry Draft in 1998 in the second round at position 53. Moore remained for another three years at Harvard, but his points yield stagnated. Still, he led the team as captain on the ice. In 2001 he completed his studies in environmental sciences and public order.

In the fall of 2001, he joined the Organization of the Colorado Avalanche, but played the first two years mainly for their farm team, the Hershey Bears in the AHL. But the way he was allowed to twelve times in the NHL on the ice.

For the 2003/04 season he was part of the NHL squad the Avalanche. Moore lay unconscious and had to be transported on a stretcher from the ice. He wore them three broken neck vertebrae, facial injuries, and a severe concussion. Bertuzzi was suspended for the rest of the season and acquitted conditioned by a Canadian court and sentenced to one year probation, which is why Bertuzzi was no entry in his criminal record. He apologized a few days after the incident very emotional in public for his behavior.

In the following months, Moore began with the rehabilitation and could begin in late 2004 with light exercise. In February 2005 he filed a lawsuit against Bertuzzi in Colorado, Brad May, Brian Burke and the team of the Vancouver Canucks. It did not come to a verdict because the judge was of the opinion that the action in the Canadian province of British Columbia, home of the Canucks, be in better hands.

In February 2006, Moore filed in the Canadian province of Ontario lawsuit against Bertuzzi and the parent company of the Canucks, Orca Bay, a. Moore calls for 15 million Canadian dollars for loss of earnings, one million Canadian dollars for pain and suffering and two million Canadian dollars in damages. The process could begin in spring 2012.

Moore still has to contend with the consequences of the severe concussion. Although he can now train both on and off the ice, but recurrent severe headaches and nausea make a return to the professional ice hockey previously impossible. But He still hopes for a comeback.
