Stephen "Steve" Staunton ( born January 19, 1969 in Drogheda ) is a former Irish football player and current coach.

Sports career

Staunton played as a teenager at Dundalk FC and at the regional level in selected teams. Kenny Dalglish, Scottish coach of FC Liverpool, discovered him there and took Staunton in 1986 to England.
