Steve Tesich

Steve Tesich ( born September 29, 1942 as Stojan Tešić in Užice, Yugoslavia, † July 1, 1996 in Sydney, Canada ) was a Serbian -American author and screenwriter.

He came at the age of fourteen in East Chicago, Indiana / USA and studied Russian literature at the universities of Indiana and Columbia. Tesich wrote numerous novels, plays and screenplays, including the Oscar-winning screenplay for the film Breaking Away - We provide all of us creates and none for Garp and how he saw the world. Tesichs novel, credits, was published in 1999 ( and again in 2006 ) in German. His first published in 1982 Summer Crossing ( One last summer, was published in 2005 in German with the Swiss publisher Kein & Aber ). Steve Tesich died in 1996 at the age of 53 years of a heart attack.

In 2005, the Serbian Ministry of the Diaspora a Stojan Stiv Tešić Literature Prize launched, which is awarded annually to ethnic Serbs writers who publish their works in another language.
