Steve Timmons

Steven Dennis "Steve" Timmons ( born November 29, 1958 in Newport Beach, California ) is a former American professional volleyball and beach volleyball player. He was world champion and two-time Olympic champion.

Career

Steve Timmons started the volleyball at the Newport Harbor High School, then played at Orange Coast College and finally at the University of Southern California. He played for the U.S. national team in three consecutive Olympic games and each won a medal: Gold Twice (1984 in Los Angeles and 1988 in Seoul ) and one bronze (1992 in Barcelona). In addition, in 1985 he was World Cup winner in Japan and 1986 world champion in France and silver medalist at the Goodwill Games in Moscow. Timmons was one of the first players who successfully practiced the backcourt attack. From 1990 to 1992 Timmons also played for the Italian Il Messaggero Ravenna top club, with whom he 1991 Volleyball Club World Cup won in 1992 and Italian was runner-up.

From 1987 to 1994 Steve Timmons played beach volleyball on the AVP additionally successfully Tour and the FIVB World Tour. The highlight was the victory at the FIVB Open in Enoshima with his teammates from the national team Charles Kiraly here.

1998 Steve Timmons was included in the "Volleyball Hall of Fame".

Private

Steve Timmons is married since 1997 in second marriage with actress Debbe Dunning. The two have a daughter and a son.
