Steven Barnett (diver)

Steven John Barnett ( born June 15, 1979 in Sydney ) is an Australian former diver. He started in the art of jumping from 1 m and 3 m- board and in the 3-meter synchronized diving. He won a bronze medal at the 2004 Olympic Games.

Barnett started at the age of four years with the water jump. He started first for the club founded by his parents Barnett Divers. His parents were also successful diver, his mother Medeleine Barnett participated in the 1976 Olympic Games in Montreal in part. With 20 years Steven Barnett then switched to the power center to Brisbane.

His first international medal winning Barnett at the 2002 Commonwealth Games in Manchester. He won bronze of the 1-m board. With Robert Newbery, he reached the following year at the World Championships in Barcelona seventh. In 2004 he took part in the Olympic Games in Athens. From the 3 m board he was in the semifinals of the 16th, in the 3-meter synchronized diving, he won the bronze medal along with Newbery. His fourth rank with Newbery at the 2007 World Championships in Melbourne was his best result at a World Cup. Three more bronze medals Barnett could win at the 2006 Commonwealth Games in Melbourne. He was from 1 m and 3 m- board, as well as Newbery in 3 m synchronized diving off third.

2007 Barnett ended his active career.
