Steven Ford

Steven Meigs Ford ( born May 19, 1956 in East Grand Rapids, Michigan ) is an American actor. Ford is one of four children from the marriage of U.S. President Gerald Ford and his wife Betty Ford

Life

Steven Ford was born in 1956 as the third son of Gerald and Betty Ford. He graduated from Utah State University.

An avid horseman, he joined, among others, on the rodeo. His acting career began in 1981 with a small role in a Western, where you can " needed someone who can fall off the horse." This was followed by an extended role as Detective Andy Richards in the soap opera Young and the Restless. For fear of unemployment Ford saved money at this time in which he lived in his car during the shoot in Los Angeles.

A wider audience, he became known in 1989 by a brief role in the classic film When Harry Met Sally on the side of Meg Ryan and Billy Crystal. Ford played the role of Sally's friend Joe, Harry is reunited at the airport in the movie. This was followed by roles in movies such as Contact, Starship Troopers, Armageddon - The Last Judgment and Black Hawk Down.

In the 1980s and early 1990s, Ford suffered as before his mother, the founder of the Betty Ford Center rehab clinic, a prolonged period of alcoholism. Since his successful withdrawal in 1993 Ford is mainly active as a speaker and motivational speaker and holds for companies and lectures to students to overcome alcoholism.
