Steven Sloane

Steven Sloane (born 1958 in Los Angeles, California ) is a German - American conductor.

Sloane studied viola, musicology and conducting at the University of California, Los Angeles. Conducting with Eugene Ormandy, Franco Ferrara and Gary Bertini. After moving to Israel Steven Sloane conducted there the most important orchestras in the country, worked as a choral and orchestral conductor of the Israel Conservatory of Music and the Tel Aviv Philharmonic Choir and served as Music Director of the Music Festival in Tel Aviv.

Currently Sloane is music director of the Bochum Symphony Orchestra. From Sloane led the orchestra have been awarded with prizes for their programming. He is committed to promoting the construction of its own concert hall that is to occur in the next few years in the center of Bochum. Beginning of 2008, Steven Sloane was in the Directorate of RUHR.2010 - appointed European Capital of Culture for the topic " City of Arts ".

Sloane is married to the violist Tabea Zimmermann.
