Steven Stapleton

The British musician, painter and illustrator Steven Peter Stapleton ( born February 3, 1957 in Finchley, United Kingdom) is the founder of the avant-garde band Nurse With Wound and the label United Dairies.

Stapleton also recorded, often under the artist name Babs Santini, who is responsible for the artistic design of the publications of Nurse With Wound, and many other artists and projects.

Career

As a fan of Krautrock groups like Amon Düül Stapleton went to Germany, where he worked as a roadie for Guru Guru and Kraan. After his return to London he was offered the cheap to rent a recording studio, and founded in 1978 with his friends John Fothergill and Heeman Pathak the project Nurse With Wound and the label United Dairies.

Over the years, Nurse With Wound developed into a solo project of Stapleton, who produced with changing musicians ( Colin Potter, Andrew Liles and others) alone or more albums. It also collaborations with other bands such as Coil, Cyclobe, Foetus, deer originated Not supervisors sofa, Legendary Pink Dots, Lemon Kittens, Organum, Sol Invictus, Stereolab, Volcano The Bear, and White House. Especially with David Tibet of Current 93 Stapleton collaborated on many albums, conversely Stapleton was involved in many of Current 93 plants.

In addition to his work as a musician Stapleton is represented with his paintings, prints and collages at international exhibitions. He lives with his wife Diana Rogerson in County Clare, Republic of Ireland.
