Stewart Butterfield

Stewart Butterfield (born 1973 Canada ) is a Canadian entrepreneur and businessman. He founded the photo site Flickr and the parent company Ludicorp with his wife Caterina Fake. In March 2005 Ludicorp and hence Flickr was acquired by Yahoo!. 2008 left Butterfield and Fake Yahoo.

He was 50 conductors in the category listed in the list of top entrepreneurs and awarded a TR35 award as one of the top 35 innovative entrepreneurs under 35 years ( MIT's Technology Review ) 2005. In 2006 he was named in the Time 100 list of most influential people in the world. In the same year he was featured on the cover of Newsweek magazine.

Butterfield graduated from the University of Victoria, where he graduated with a Bachelor of Arts (BA) in Philosophy, then he obtained a Master of Philosophy from the University of Cambridge.

He lives in San Francisco, California and was educated at St. Michaels University School in Victoria.
