Stig Fredriksson

Stig Fredriksson ( born March 6, 1956 in Sorsele ) is a former Swedish football international, who now works as a coach.

Career

Fredriksson played for Västerås SK. 1980 brought Sven-Goran Eriksson him to IFK Gothenburg, for the defender played in the Allsvenskan. 1982 succeeded in surprising success in the UEFA Cup, which was repeated in 1987. Fredriksson was also several times Swedish champion and cup winner with the club. In 1987 he ended his active career.

Fredriksson was also the Swedish national team. He played 58 times for the national selection, which he played 15 games as team captain. Since its active period fell into a bad phase of the national team, he missed participating in major tournaments.

After his retirement Fredriksson moved to the dugout. Initially he worked as assistant coach the U21 national team of Sweden. Later he was coach at Västra Frölunda IF.
