Stiga

Stiga is a Swedish company that was independent until 2000, and then in the company Global Garden Products ( GGP ) rose, with the name as a trademark Stiga continued to exist. It manufactures sports products and garden equipment. At the headquarters Tranås 2007, approximately 320 employees were employed in the whole group about 1300. Revenues in 2009 amounted to around 5 billion Swedish crowns.

History

Stiga was founded under the name of company factory Produkter 1934 by Stig Hjelmquist ( born June 20, 1911 † 1985). In 1938, he called the company in stigma later in Stiga order. 1941 started the production of bullets, three years later came table tennis products, such as tables, nets, rackets and balls, do so. A little later cooperated with the Swedish Stiga Table Tennis Association and so promoted the success of the Swedish table tennis top players. In 1957, the offer to Table Hockey Games in 1964 expands to lawnmowers. 1983 sold Stiga table tennis division and shifted its focus to the production of garden tools. According to information Stiga was the mid-1980s the largest manufacturer of lawn mowers in Europe.

2000 Stiga merged with several other companies to the group Global Garden Products ( GGP ).
