Stigliano

Stigliano is a municipality in the province of Matera in the region of Basilicata.

In Stigliano 4590 inhabitants ( 31 December 2012). The town is located 80 km southwest of Matera. The neighboring municipalities are Accettura, Aliano, Cirigliano, Craco, Gorgoglione, Montalbano Jonico, San Mauro Forte, Sant'Arcangelo (PZ ) and Tursi.

The Year of the place is unknown. In 1664 the town was destroyed by an earthquake, but was built up again directly afterwards.

Worth seeing in the church of S. Antonio Stigliano is from the 15th to the 17th century.
