Stirling Island

Stirling is the second largest island in the Western Pacific Treasury Islands. It belongs to the Western Province of the island nation of Solomon Islands.

The nearly 9 square kilometers and six kilometers long, the island is located one kilometer south of Mono. On Stirling erected U.S. armed forces during the Second World War, a time strategic airstrip. The island is uninhabited today.
