Stirling Prize

The Stirling Prize is a British prize for outstanding architecture. It is named after the architect James Stirling (1926-1992) and is awarded annually by the Royal Institute of British Architects ( RIBA ) awarded. Stirling Prize winner win a scholarship of £ 20,000.

The RIBA Stirling prize goes to " the architect of the building, which represents the greatest contribution to British architecture in the previous year. " The architect must be a member of the RIBA, and the building must be located in the European Union are.

The prize is awarded since 1996 and is considered the most important architectural prize in the UK, similar to the Booker Prize and the Turner Prize. The award ceremony is transmitted by Channel 4 and the price is sponsored by the Architects' Journal.
