Stock (geology)

A stick is in the sense of Geology an extensive, irregularly shaped mass of rock, which interspersed with steep contacts as a foreign body other rocks. Often a stock is worked out by weathering, such as mountain ranges or massifs.

Species

Depending on the material, a distinction between different types:

  • Eruptivstock, plutonic or subvulkanisch formed, such as granite Erzstock consisting of a large mass of ore
  • Gear stick, a short, powerful gait Warehouse floor, a reclining gear Stock
  • Salt dome in salt deposits
  • This limestone, the mountain ranges of limestone mountains, beside constructed from dolomite ( dolomite floor) Coral colony on coral reefs, live, as well as fossil massif
