Stock solution

Under a stock solution, also referred to as stock solution, is understood in chemical and biological laboratories, a solution which serves as the basis for other solutions.

A stock solution is always higher than the focused working solution. From a stock solution can be so any time a larger volume of the working solution is prepared by simple dilution without having to start again the working solution from its components. Stock solutions are usually 10-100 - or 1000 -fold concentrated. From a 10 - fold concentrated stock solution to win the working solution by starting with nine parts of the solvent (for example water) mixed with a portion of the stock solution. Usually, the stock solution is kept in large, standardized volume. The stock solutions are applied to common buffer solutions, but also for reagent such as hydrochloric acid (HCl) and sodium hydroxide (NaOH ). The stock solution is used in analytical chemistry in the titration.

As a stock solution also called concentrated developer approaches for developing film in photography.
