Stockholm Concert Hall

The Konserthuset is situated on the Hötorget Stockholm Concert Hall.

It was built in 1924-1926 according to the plans of Ivar Tengbom and is one of the most important buildings of classicism in Sweden. The characteristic of the building gray granite pillars were quarried at Vånevik. The columns are aligned in the direction Hötorget instead of the present Sveavägen because this road completed at the time of construction of the Kungsgatan.

The design of the interiors comes from the leading interior designers and artists of the time, including by Ewald Dahlskog and Isaac Grünewald. The architecture can be seen at the annual award of the Nobel Prize in Konserthuset. Before the building of the Orfeusbrunnen is the sculptor Carl Milles in 1936. The facades of the Konserthuset have the time characteristic blue color of the 1920s, which was selected by Grünewald for the building.

Stockholm Konserthuset was used in addition to the gaming operations of the concerts as a theater. The so-called Konserthusteatern was led by director Per Lindberg.
