The Stockberg is one of the highest elevations in the Löwenstein mountains in Baden- Württemberg ( Germany ). Due to its high altitude of 538.9 m above sea level. NN and thanks to the distinctive transmission tower on its summit the Liaskuppe is clearly visible even from a distance.

Geographical location

The Stockberg located 3.5 km southeast of Lion's Arch and about 2.2 km west- northwest of Neulautern the crow flies. On the northeast flank of the mountain is about 50 m below the treeless summit of the mountain hamlet of Stockberg.

Arise on its north and east sides in the districts rogue Hölzle and Gehrn from many source branches two streams that flow in a short barrel of the Lauter in the east. On the wooded southern flank of the mountain passes through the short grinding blade of the top Bottwar to another Quellast that springs itself on its western flank, both lakes are in the great hillside woodland Seizengehren. Names Origins and History

The name derives from the Stockberg Ausstocken of the forest in the clearing settlement forth at the foot of the mountain. While the village Stockberg was part of Württemberg in the 15th century and came to Beilstein, on the other hand was the hilltop with the stick Berger hunting house along the southwestern slope forest Seizengehren below in the possession of the Counts of Löwenstein and still is an exclave of the city Lowenstein.

Transmission tower and plant

At the top of the mountain stock is a transmission tower of steel truss construction, which is used by mobile operators.
