Jo Daviess County
Stockton is a village in Jo Daviess County, Illinois, United States. The area of Stockton is 2.0 km ². The population was recorded in the census in 2000 at 1,926.
History and location
The village of Stockton is the youngest municipality in the district ' Jo Daviess County '. It was created in 1886 after the railway company ' Minnesota Northwestern Railroad ' in the district ' Stockton Township ' had erected a stop. Since the 1970s, this railway line no longer exists. The main street ( Front Street ) by Stockton was the busy road after Lena. Stockton is located on the main road U.S. Route 20, which runs from Freeport to Galena, and at the state road Illinois Route 78, which runs from Warren to Mount Carroll.
In 1914, the brothers opened a cheese factory force, which belonged to the sale in 1998 as a cheese factory Kraft Cheese, and belonging to the present day the Stockton Cheese Company, produced for Kraft Foods.
