Stok

The Stok Palace, Stog Palace or Tog Palace ( Tib: pho brang STOG ) or Stok Gompa ( Stok Monastery, Monastery Tog ), etc. is a palace and monastery of Tibetan Buddhism in the district of Leh Ladakh in the Indus valley in northern India, about 15 km south of Leh, the capital of Ladakh. The park dates back to the 14th century and was founded by Lama Lhawang Lotus. It is famous for a vorliegendes now also printed, named after the palace of the manuscript Kanjur from the Drukpa Kagyu school. A ritual dance - mask festival is held here every year.

The palace serves as the current residence of the former royal family of Ladakh, at present it is occupied by the widow of the last King Singe Namgyal of Ladakh, who died in 1974. The palace itself was built in 1825 by King Tsepal Tondup Namgyal (Tib. rnam rgyal tshes dpal don grub ) built, its main building is five stories high. It houses a museum where exhibits from the Royal Collection can be visited.
