The Stolmabrua ( German " Stolma Bridge " ) with 301 m span at the most expansive prestressed concrete girder bridge in the world. The traffic passed in the 1998 road bridge is in Norway, about 50 km south of Bergen. It spans the Stolmasund and connects the islands Stolmen and Selbjørn.

Construction

The 467 m long and 9.0 m wide reinforced concrete structure has three spans. The spans amount to 94 m on the shore of the island Selbjørn and 72 m on the shore of the island Stolmen. The main opening spans 301 meters and was built by the balanced cantilever. The bridge cross section consists of a 7.0 m wide hollow box whose height varies between 3.5 m and 15.0 m in middle of the bridge over the piers. To reduce the superstructure dead weight came to a length of 184 m in the center of the main opening, a light-weight concrete of strength class LC 60 with a bulk density of 1.94 kg / dm ³ apply. The main span in relation to the relatively short fringe fields are also ballasted with gravel.
