Stomodeum

The stomodeum ( Stomatodeum, Syn: Stomatodaeum, Stomodeum, stomodaeum ) is a cavity in the primitive embryo. It is caused by the Abkrümmung of the embryo between the brain and the heart system and is of ectodermal origin. From the endodermal pharynx ( the front end of the foregut ) is initially separated by the pharyngeal membrane ( membrana stomatopharyngealis ). But these tears early on, so that the connection is made to the primitive gut ( in the human embryo at the end of the third week).

The bay mouth is concentrated further by the emergence of five extensions of the human embryo in the 4th and 5th week:

  • Soft padding
  • Two Oberkieferwülste
  • Two Unterkieferwülste.

These beads are significantly involved in the shaping of the face. In the direction of the mouth pharynx bay lies between the first two branchial arches.

From the ectoderm of the stomodeum, the epithelium of most of the oral cavity is formed. A gland bud, the Rathke's pouch, provides the material for the adenohypophysis.
