Store Molla

Store Molla is an island of Lofoten Vågan the municipality in the Norwegian Fylke Nordland. The island is wedged between Austvågøy in the west and in the east of Hinnøya and Årsteinen. The Vestfjordsunde Øyhellesundet Raftsundet and separate them from the rest of Lofoten. To the south, its now uninhabited smaller sister Lille Molla.
General
Its main towns are Brettesnes at the southern tip and in the east Ulvåg, but there are still places Gullvika, Finnvik and Krabbvågen. Many typical for the Scandinavian summer houses are to be found here. By 1990 there were in Finnvik still a sardine factory, but the inhabitants have remained either fishermen or have adapted to tourism, in the form of boat or cabin rentals and fishing excursions.
The ships of the Hurtigruten happen several times a day the island on their way through the Raftsundet from Svolvær to Harstad, so that Store Molla emits a popular photo opportunity.
