Stork Head and Ferme auberge de Haag from northeast

The Stork head ( also Storckenkopf ) is with 1366 meters above sea level is the second highest mountain in the Vosges. It lies about 1400 m ( air line ) west of the Grand Ballon ( Grand Ballon ), the highest mountain in the Vosges, in the department of Haut-Rhin of the french region Alsace. The mountain is located in the Regional Natural Park of Ballons des Vosges. At the foot of the summit lies at 1250 meters altitude, the Ferme auberge de Haag, a typical Vosges mountain inn on the road department D 431 The International GR 5 passes on the southern flank of the summit. The summit is located near the route of the Crètes that connects all the high peaks of the Vosges Mountains.
