Storm Over Bengal is an American adventure film made in 1938 by Sidney Salkow.
Action
While serving in British India has become Lieutenant Neil Allison in Joan Lattimore, the fiancée of his brother Jeffrey, in love. At the same time the Maharaja of Lhanapur is dying. His subordinates want to prevent he learns of the plans Ramin Khan who wants to drive the British out of the country. Ramin wants to Jeffrey, the most famous captain in the British Army, out of the way and promises for a large reward. However Ramin do not know that of all Jeffrey, disguised as a holy man, his camp has spied and escaped undetected.
Jeffrey arrives at the British fort. He is glad Joan and Neil be found safe and sound. Joan should leave for their own safety after the wedding, what Neil, who always stood in the shadow of his brother, angry. Even before the wedding, Jeffrey is sent on an important mission. He should visit the dying Maharaja to seek permission to send British troops to Lhanapur. The Maharajah signed the decree, as Ramin storms into the chamber to capture Jeffrey. However, Jeffrey manages to escape and pass the document to his sergeant Hallett, who makes himself with the paper on the way back. Only now can Ramin Jeffrey capture what Hallett, who was seriously injured in his escape, may report in the fort, before he dies.
Neil is an experienced pilot, but he wants to warn his plane the withdrawing after Lhanapur British troops before an ambush. Ramin will meanwhile Jeffrey force them to spread false reports over the radio, but he is so successful. Neil inspects the troops and must make an emergency landing, during which he lost his life. But the news of the ambush is found, and the commander, Colonel Torrance passed. Ramin meet people on prepared British troops. During the fight, Jeffrey breaks out of his prison and blasts an ammunition depot of the insurgents in the air. Jeffrey reached his fighting comrades, defeat the Ramin and his people. The peace in this region is secured again. Jeffrey and Joan are planning their wedding, they know that Neil's reckless flying has helped to victory.

The premiere was held on 14 November 1938.
Production of Republic Pictures had some parallels to the hit the company Paramount Pictures from 1935 Bengali: on, in which the performer Cromwell, Tapley and Dumbrille participated (OT Lives of a Bengal Lancer ). Critics pointed out, however, that was not the quality of the Republic film so high.
