Storsylen North View

The Storsylen (Eng. The large arbor ) or Sylt Oppen is a mountain on the Norwegian / Swedish border and the highest mountain in the Sylan. He is also the highest elevation of the historical Swedish province of Jämtland, which is one of Jämtland County. The peak on the Swedish side is 1743 meters, the actual summit, which is located on Norwegian territory is 1762 meters high. The saddle height of the mountain is 640 m.

Development

In the 19th century the mountain was regarded as unclimbable. Today, he is one of the most climbed peak in the Sylan own. There are both routes for walking ( from the north) as well as for climbing ( from the south). The normal route leads from the Nedalshytta to around 780 moh in the Norwegian municipality Tydal in about 5 hours over a highlighted by the Norwegian Trekking Association 12 km long hiking trail to the summit of Storsylen.
