Stratos (Greek Στράτος ( m. sg. ), Latin Stratus ) is a village in Aetolia - Acarnania in the region of Western Greece. Stratos is located immediately west of the eponymous Stratos reservoir, which dams up the river Achelous, east of the town of Neapolis and north-west of the city of Agrinio and south of the city Amfilohia. Stratos is in the valley of the Achelous and is circled by this south and south- east after passing the dam of Stratos Reservoir.

Under the name Sorovigli ( Σωροβίγλι ) the place in 1912 as a rural community ( kinotita ) was recognized in 1928 renamed the ancient name Stratos and 1997 when the incorporation of some neighboring communities to township ( dimos ) levied. On January 1, this community was incorporated into the city Agrinio, where it has since formed a district.

Stratos has been inhabited since ancient times. Its location on the west bank of the Achelous as a natural border between the regions Aetolia and Acarnania gave importance. The remains of the ancient settlement are still visible today and include a theater with 7,000 seats, a bouleuterion ( meeting place ) and a temple. In ancient times, it was the most important city of Etoloakarnania region. After ancient times, it lost its importance.

2005, there were floods caused by flooding of the Achelous, which building and agricultural areas were damaged.

The inhabitants Stratos ' live mainly from agriculture. Stratos has a primary school, a secondary school and a secondary school. A bank and a post office are also available.

The transport links from Stratos is implemented via the National Road 5 ( European route 951); a connection to the Greek highway system is provided by the construction of the Ionia Odos (highway 5) for the years 2007 to 2010.
