Strawbs

The Strawbs is a British rock and folk rock band that plays together since the mid- 1960s.

Their leader, guitarist and main songwriter Dave Cousins ​​, who founded the group with Tony Hooper (guitar) and Ron Chesterman (bass ) under the name The Strawberry Hill Boys.

Longtime teammates next to Cousins ​​and Hooper were Rick Wakeman (known from Yes), Blue Weaver, who was also at Amen Corner, Mott the Hoople and the Bee Gees played along, Rick Hudson and John Ford, who end up as the duo Hudson Ford Hits. Furthermore, Dave Lambert, Brian Willoughby, Chas Cronk and John Hawken (also The Nashville Teens, Renaissance, Spooky Tooth, Vinegar Joe ). Several times the band worked with Sandy Denny, who had become known as a singer of Fairport Convention and Fotheringay.

The greatest commercial success was achieved by the group in 1973 in the occupation of Cousins ​​, Lambert, Hudson, Ford and Weaver, especially with the song part of the Union, who finished No. 2 in the singles charts in the UK and Germany came in at No. 31.

In early 2005, the group was as Acoustic Strawbs on a tour of England, now in the occupation of 24 with Cousins ​​, Lambert, Hudson, Ford, Weaver and Willoughby.
